Commissions

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 6, 2008, 5:29 AM
Commission Info (updated)

Prices:
Examples below - they may not perfectly illustrate the criteria because they were freely made, but every commission will follow the precise criteria for their prices, and will be discussed with the commissioner to achieve what s/he wants. ^^

b/w - lineart only - bust or half-body: $10 (R$20)

b/w - lineart only - full body: $15 (R$30)

b/w - detailed inking and/or halftones - bust or half-body - simple/no bg: $20 (R$40)

b/w - detailed inking and/or halftones - full body - simple/no bg: $20 (R$$40)

b/w - detailed inking and/or halftones - bust or half-body - detailed bg: $25 (R$50)

b/w - detailed inking and/or halftones - full body - detailed bg: $40 (R$80)

colour (digital painting only) - bust or half-body - simple/no bg: $15 (R$30)

colour - full body - simple/no bg: $25 (R$50)

colour - bust or half-body - detailed bg: $30 (R$60)

colour - full body - detailed bg: $40~$60 (R$80~R$120) (depends on amount of details)

Additional characters (depending on their size, animals may be considered additional characters):
lineart only - bust or half-body: $5 each (R$10 cada um)
lineart only - full body: $10 each (R$20 cada um)
b/w or colour - bust or half-body: $15 each (R$30 cada um)
b/w or colour - full body: $20 each (R$40 cada um)

I won't set a maximum number of characters because it all depends on the composition, perspective, etc; it's something that would have to be discussed beforehand.

Essential information:

- every commissioned artwork will be done in my style. Regardless of the subject (so, for instance, I can make portraits, but it'll come out more like a caricature).
- I have the right to refuse a commission if I think it's unsuitable or too difficult.
- all drawings and paintings I make begin on paper and end on Photoshop. I never draw directly on the PC, and even if a b/w work's 100% traditionally inked, it is toned (and fixed :P) with PS.
- because of that, all the commissions will be sent to the commissioner by email, in high resolution version (enough for the commissioner to print if s/he wants).
- I won't send originals or prints by mail, I don't trust the Post Offices very much (just to give an idea: I still haven't received the DeviantArt doll I won in the Character Sheet contest), nor do I trust my own sense of organisation. And suppose I sent the work by mail but somehow it got lost forever; that would be simply awful. It'd create unnecessary headaches for both sides.
- the commissioner must note me with all the references for what s/he wants portrayed.

Additional information:

- it's up to the commissioner how much information s/he will give about the subject they want portrayed, but the more, the better (the poses, the type of composition, the furniture, anything you feel like). By NOT giving objective info, s/he is automatically giving me the right to interpret anything the way I want, without complaint.
- that being said, I won't accept anything too vague, like: "I want a cute girl with a lollipop" or "I want your interpretation of the dichotomy rationalism x empiricism".
- on the other hand, more specific details must have the reference sent by the commissioner (for instance, "I want my OC sitting on Schumacher's F1 Ferrari" - you have to send me a pic of the car, and preferably also the exact name of the model so I can look for more pics if needed)

ALL COMMISSIONS ARE FOR PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY!
(the following was copied from *setsuna22, since it's so well explained :P)
I retain all rights to all of the artwork that I create, but you are allowed to use your commissioned piece in any way you wish so long as it is for non-profit. What this means is that you may use and minimally modify the artwork for purposes such as your website, but that you cannot sell prints or any other form of merchandise using the artwork, nor can you sell the rights to the work to someone else. I, on the other hand, retain the rights to use any artwork I create for merchandise and/or my portfolio. (/endcopypaste)
And obviously, you retain the intellectual rights and ownership in case of portraits of your original characters.

What I CAN do:

- people of all ages and biotypes
- familiar animals (ie dogs, cats, horses, tigers, wolves, even dragons; just don't ask me to invent some crazy creature :P)
- urban and countryside landscapes (cities, forests, houses, interiors)
- sail ships , castles, "old" or fantastic settings
- existing and relatively familiar machinery (ie computers, cars, firearms, stuff for which I can find reference. But not gigantic NASA-developed cannons)
- anthros, Rackham-style (ie, any animal put on two legs. Also people with animal ears)
- fan-characters (your RO or WoW character [even orcs or trolls! lol], your Naruto/LotR/etc OC
- a little violence (blood, cuts, but not exposed viscera)
- fanart (I know I said I wouldn't do it, for both ethical reasons and for fear something might go wrong and I might get sued, but I see so many people doing this, I guess I'm safe o.o It's not like I'm taking the profit away from the original artist, anyway)

What I CAN'T do:

- hentai, yaoi, yuri (I'm ok with shoujo or shounen ai though)
- nudity (not even the most tasteful, I'm just not prepared for this :P)
- futuristic settings or unexisting machinery (think Shirow-style stuff)
- furries (ie, animal face but human body, things like that)
- really ugly monsters (Iron Maiden's Eddie, for instance)
- anything too grotesque

How to proceed if you want a commission:

- send me a note stating that you want a commission and presenting a basic idea of what you want portrayed.
- I'll note you back to let you know if I accept the commission or not, and giving you my email and PayPal account.
- then, if you didn't explain all the details in the first note, do so now. Add absolutely anything you want about the work!
- after that I'll begin sketching, and then show you a basic sketch of the final work.
- if you do not approve, tell me what you want changed.
- after it's approved, the commissioner must then pay the first half of the job and let me know so that I can move on to inking and/or painting.
- when I have the whole work done, I'll show a low-res preview of the artwork (just to make sure that it's actually finished) and you must pay me the rest of the commission.
- after that, I'll send you a high-res (300 dpi) version of the artwork by email, before posting on my online galleries.

É ruim, hein! Não entendo NADA de html, CSS ou coisa que o valha. xD Eu uso o template feito por :iconblissart: e :iconginkgografix:, eu só downloadei o arquivo e colei tudo na parte "CSS" do Journal. Quem dera, criar coisas assim... :ohnoes:

Vou precisar de sorte, mesmo! =P

Quote of the year: Cain and Abel? xD Did you get that off of Trinity Blood?
:iconsolfieri:

Eu sou do Rio, e você?

Legal! Mas cuidado com esses comissions. Acho que seria preciso você dizer que não pode usar os desenhos comprados comercialmente, por que aí seriam outros 500 (é, 500 reais). :)
